Máiréad Nesbitt joins us for a free masterclass workshop on tips and techniques! Event includes a unique chance to learn from and play with one of our world famous professionals, get hands on with some great instruments, bring your own instrument and play along with the session, enjoy some light refreshments and even win some music spot prizes!!

Fresh from playing Carnegie Hall, Máiréad will be on hand to demonstrate and discuss an exciting new range, and it’s a unique chance for any interested student or player. We have 3 lovely models in her range in stock to check out* all of which come including case, bow, Kolstein resin, Tourte mute, Kun shoulder rest.

After a short demo of the range, Máiréad will be giving a tips and techniques MASTERCLASS for attendees and has suggested a lovely O'Carolan tune Captain O' Kane for everyone to play together in a round at the end. Two Features Driving Intonation Innovation

The first is the Compensated Nut! Between the four strings the differences in string width and tension are substantial. By compensating the distance between the first fret and the nut we are able to make open chords sound as smooth as silk.

Those Saddles Move!

The second feature is the Movable Saddle: Traditional straight saddles on a ukulele or any other fretted instrument are detrimental to good intonation. With nylon strings even “compensated saddles” are a complete fallacy. The issue is that nylon strings are by their nature, inconstant. After much testing we found the only way to improve on this is to create movable saddle technology to allow the player to adjust the amount of compensation for each string. No tools are required and adjusting the intonation is as easy as pouring milk on cereal.
